We are Wounded healers.#Day5_of_22

Welcome back from an eventful weekend, Nigeria got twitter blocked, Uganda is in a 42 day lock down and I have been binging on last weeks wealth of content from the afro bloggers community. I think we did the creatives week Justice. .

Moving on,

It’s Day 5 of 22,Week 2 and the theme is ADVOCACY

An Advocate is one who pleads the cause of another.

Advocacy seeks to ensure that all people in society are able to have their voice heard on issues that are significant to them.

Advocacy is putting people first. And the most worthwhile way to that is LOVE in its truest foam.

I recently decided that my mantra for life is be kind, be humble and spread love.

In my opinion the root cause of all inhumanity is the lack of love.

That girl while she grew up,on her way to school Men called her names, some said she was pretty others called her ugly. Some went ahead to touch her butt.

At home they prepared her for marriage mostly, each time a chore was not done well,

“Linda is that how you will behave in your husbands home?”

As she got older she found a lover and each time she would give in, she was rewarded. Now she thinks of her body as commodity, she will use it to get what she wants. It’s all she knows.

she is insecure She is lost, she is dismal.

That boy watched his parents fight all the time, he saw his father neglect responsibility in the home to the mother, he had no yardstick for humility

He joined high school and it was a tradition for the older boys to bully the newbies, some boys adapted others resorted to substance abuse and the cycle repeats itself.

He grew up watching women being devalued. He saw his father do it to his mum. And on the news that member of parliament was caught sexually harrasing his intern. To him a woman is a sex object .He got this girl pregnant and walked away because that is what he knows. That is his normal, no shame, no guilt.

We are all wounded.

And when we don’t heal we allow the wounds to be passed on to the next person and we end up, with runaway fathers, single mom’s, corrupt officials, spoiled kids, Abusers and the list is endless. Somehow all the in humanity going around can be justified. Even that man that defiled that little girl has a story. The wounded become disciples of atrocity.

The ability to walk in love and overcome offense, that is the standard measure of a disciple of change.

Love overcomes all Evil.

The greatest commandment is to love your neighbour as you love yourself. Even God knows love conquers all. That rude co-worker giving you a hard time,๐Ÿค” try baking them cookies every week, or buying them lunch or sending them a bouquet of flowers. They probably have never had anyone do something nice for them and so they don’t know any better than to be rude.

Failure is not a final verdict of life. It is up to you and me to be intentional about healing if we want to see a change in all the things we advocate for.

An act of kindness, a sense of humility and a show of love can go a long way.

We are wounded healers.

And that’s how we change the world.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

And that is my take for the start of the advocacy week. Stay with me through the week as I share stories of how acts of love made a difference to the souls that got some. Do leave a comment on your thoughts, like and share.๐Ÿ˜

  1. Wow. It is true that when you don’t allow yourself to heal, you cause others to also suffer innocently. Let us love
