It’s boxing Day 😁
The 7 year old me then was worried that if I wasn’t too careful I would get beaten to a pulp by a stranger. In my eyes boxing day was a free pass for people to fight without consequences.
In the mornings of this auspicious day,we played wrestling and called truce to no random boxing. And that’s how we celebrated and survived death were I grew up.
I don’t remember when we got liberated by knowledge. But what a relief! 😁
So for those who are still bound by blissful ignorance. Today is actually about unboxing gifts Santa left under the Christmas tree.( let us agree to disagree).
Since we celebrated King Baby Jesus yesterday, I thought today maybe we could unbox a little Grace. A gift he freely gave to all of us. Also I was up all night reading Masterpiece by Francine Rivers and I will never recover from the depth of Revelation on Grace this Woman has. (Yes I am binge reading her)
In her authors note she said something profound and that will be the basis of discussion today.
I wanted readers to see how easily we can fall into traps and be seduced by worldly philosophies. Even when we are saved by grace, we suffer consequences.Francine Rivers. A quote from her book~ Masterpiece
Grace according to the Merriam Webster dictionary is defined as unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.
In the Bible simply put, Grace is unmerited favor freely given by God because of his mercy and unconditional love for us.
Sometimes this feels like a free pass to do just about anything because of the assurance of the covering God gives. And he does cover. This God is too good. He is the kind that will defend his child to the death even when we are in wrong.
If you’ve read your Bible you know the story of Abraham and Sarah. That part when he lied to Pharaoh’s officials that Sarah was his sister fearing the Egyptians would kill him so they can have her. Indeed the Pharaoh took interest in Sarah. He even rewarded Abraham what I think was bride price.
Pharaoh’s household was struck with disease by God for Abraham’s sake. Clearly it’s Abraham that was wrong. He lied but The Lord came through for him regardless. Not once but more times than we know. Abraham pulled the same stunt with Abimelek king of Gerar. This king got lucky with a warning From God. Maybe they were acquaintances.
Where there consequences? For Abraham I don’t know.
Myself. Yes I have suffered the consequences of my decisions.
Francine Rivers mentioned the traps that are set by philosophies of this world.
It’s so easy to be overcome by deception in this era. I have found myself very many times compromising on Godly standards to accommodate the world. It’s something I still struggle with. And that’s were the Grace of God comes in.
I have seen him overlook my two-face stunts many times. To be honest God cares about where your heart is in a matter more than anything. He is more interested in having a relationship with you than he is about the “sin” you take pleasure in.
I believe this because (may sound controversial) I now know it’s impossible to sin when the spirit fully dwells in you. From the time you accept Jesus as your lord and savior, the spirit begins to build a dwelling place in you and once you are fully surrendered you become righteous in all rights and glory.
The closer you to get to God. The more you become like him.
On this journey it is so easy to get distracted.
Paul in one of his letters told the people that all things are good but not all things are profitable. There is a freedom in Christ.
Yes. I figured this freedom out this year. I played around with it and messed up pretty bad, it almost cost me my life. (One day I will tell the story) I didn’t get to the part in my seeking where it says “God can not be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
In short I will quote Paul again;
We are called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh.
God being God with his reckless love. He pulled me out with a staff and rod. I got the whooping of my life and still felt his love overwhelm me.(awkward right?)
His Grace is sufficient.
Indeed All things will always work together for your good. No matter what you do. Nothing can separate you from the love of God.
His love is unconditional, but his trust is earned.
There things the Lord will not trust you with until you get to a certain place with him. I have learned this the hard way.
And that was/is my biggest take home on Grace for 2021.
His love is unconditional but his trust in earned.
One of the characters A pastor in masterpiece said,
Doing this God thing is Simple. But its not easy.
Whoever told you salvation is a walk in the park. They lied. There is work involved. Of course the burden is light when you surrender to the spirit. Total surrender is our work.
How many are willing to loose everything to A God they cannot see?
Think about something you love very much, you will do anything, like catch a grenade for it.
Would you give up this thing if God asked you to?
My Prayer for you is take delight in seeking God. It’s worth the time and effort. (Speaking from experience)
There is still more in The Grace box but we could never finish in one sitting. This unboxing never ends.
Blessings to you.
Question:What’s the craziest thing the Lord has asked you to give up? > for me it was a boy. It ended in tears 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 These days if he says jump I ask how high.(with trembling 🤣🤣🤣)
And it’s a wrap for Day 7 of 12.
See you again tomorrow.
Be kind, be humble spread love💝
